The Art Of Thread Painting

Yes, you can make this beautiful landscape, too!

Teaching in Western North Carolina, Georgia, Tennessee, South Carolina and on a cruise to Canada has been both a joy and privilege as I experience excited students expand their free-motion embroidery techniques.

Landscape Thread Painting: Welcome to free-motion embroidery. Thread paint a seascape design by layering batik fabrics while learning the importance of scale and the value of color in order to achieve realistic results. Embellishing with cotton, rayon and metallic threads

brings the sand water and beautiful sunrise to life. Utilizing 2 basic stitches, the straight and zig-zag stitch, you will discover how to set your thread and bobbin tensions for your specific machine thus overcoming the often frustrating experience of sewing with assorted thread weights and specialty threads. Stabilizing the muslin foundation ensures against puckering of fabrics as you embellish with threads.

This free-motion thread painted seascape, "Cape San Blas" is available for teaching to guilds and quilt shops.
